This past week, Lightology paired with Chicago area design firm HDR Architecture for their Alice In Wonderland – inspired dining room installation for Dining by Design, an event hosted by the Chicago Chapter of DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS). This event raises funds for Chicago area HIV/AIDS service organizations that provide direct service, education, and outreach to the community.
Lightology donated the Ginetta chandelier for the installation, while companies like Coalesse Furniture, Designtex Fabrics and Interface Carpet donated other elements to perfect the whimsically chaotic setting.
HDR Designer Anne Rockwell had her sights set on the Ginnetta chandelier from the beginning.
“The chandelier was the perfect formal element with a modern twist,” she explained. “It helped tie the room together with the white table and scrolling graphic side walls.”

You light up my life.
I’ll leave the light on for you.
Come on baby, light my fire.
If you ask us, sounds like light and love are the perfect pair. So it makes sense why so many couples are coming to Lightology to capture the true essence of their love … in their engagement photos!
Misha Media Photography took advantage of EVERY inch of our showroom and rooftop deck. Don’t they look so cool sitting in the Morpheus Room (located on the second floor of our showroom) with the Andy Warhol behind them?!
Ashley Witmer Photography, Tunwa Yee of Edward Fox Photography and Photographer Chris Murphy captured the breathtaking skyline and gorgeous landscaping on our rooftop garden. And the couples don’t look half bad either!
Thanks so much to the photographers and couples Anna and Ron, Sarah and Mark, Nikki and Bhavesh, and Michelle and Mike! We wish you all a very bright future!
You can see more photos of these couples under fan photos on our facebook page.
Call her a design philanthropist. Mia Rao, of Mia Rao Design in Chicago, IL never thought that being a designer would win her any points on the do-gooder scale.
“For the longest time, I thought I wasn’t doing anything philanthropic,” says Mia. “But I’ve come to realize that people are really affected by their environment. It’s exciting to watch the transformation of a space, but the most rewarding aspect of being an interior designer is finding out how much your designs can impact a person’s life.”
Mia has used Lightology for many of her projects, and shared with us some of her favorites.
“Lighting really has the ability to make huge transformations to a space. I think it is one of the most important aspects of my job; there is not much point to doing interior design without doing lighting. Once a client sees the right lighting in one space, they understand how important it is and almost always want to re-light the rest of their house.”
“Lightology is the best in Chicago when it comes to variety and options. Clients are always impressed when they come into the showroom, and its just a fun place to go and pick fixtures. I have worked with a lot of the staff and I’ve always had very good service.
Because you guys are always ahead of the curve, there have been a few times where I have been the first to buy a new fixture from your showroom, and clients just love knowing they have a truly unique fixture.”
